Red Wing’s classic Irish Setter.

It’s no exaggeration to say that she is the face of the brand.

 

At first glance, it looks just like the 8875, but…

This is the 9106 model.

 

There is a difference between the upper and the width, and

The 8875 is made from Orolaset Portage leather, and the width is generally E.

9106 is Copper Worksmith, and Wiz is D-Wiz.

The 9106 has a slightly darker shade than the 8875.

 

I also own the 9106 and I really like its dark colour,

The 9106 I bought was my first pair of Red Wings.

 

This time, the item was brought in for sole repairs.

 

Wear and tear on the front section, and

 

There are signs of wear on the heel.

 

As well as wear and tear on the soles…

 

There is mould growing on the welt, and

 

When I untied my shoelaces and spread my wings,

There was mould growing there too.

In this section, when putting on or taking off the shoes, the laces…

It’s a point that’s quite easy to overlook, as you rarely have to work through all the problems.

 

On this occasion, we carried out repairs to the soles and removed mould, and

 

As you were also concerned about deformation of the shaft,

We have carried out maintenance on this as well, to the best of our ability.

 

Here is the finished result.

 

Vibram #4014

The outsole used for this model is the Vibram #4014.

This is a standard repair material used for Red Wing full soles.

 

Just like the original traction tread sole,

This sole offers excellent slip resistance, outstanding durability and superior cushioning.

 

The mould that had developed on the welt was cleaned,

We were able to remove it completely.

 

The mould that had formed where the wings were spread has also completely disappeared.

 

The shaft has become misshapen because the leather has developed a kink, so

It is highly likely that it will revert to its original shape the more you wear it, but

Having it cleaned will make it look fresh and crisp again, at least for a while.

 

This time, we carried out a full sole replacement and mould removal.

 

Depending on the type of mould and the length of time since it first appeared,

There are some things that cannot be removed completely.

If mould does happen to grow on your shoes

Please bring it in as soon as possible.

It may be possible to remove it without leaving any marks.
