Red Wing’s Irish Setter ”8173’.

“Alongside the ”875” and ‘8875’, this is one of the absolute classics.

 

Although it is a classic model, it was actually launched as a model designed specifically for the Japanese market.

It has now become an integral part of the range in its home country

It has become a long-running bestseller.

There are also several other models that were developed as part of the Japan Project, so

It’s quite interesting if you look into it.

 

This time, the item was brought in for sole repairs.

The sole is not the original traction tread sole, but

It has been replaced with a similar material.

 

If the heel were reinforced, it looks as though you could still wear them for a while, but

On this occasion, at the owner’s request,

I’ve decided to have the shoes re-soled with a different sole.

 

Here is the finished result.

 

Vibram #2021

The sole used this time was the Vibram #2021.

 

Compared with the original traction tread sole,

Extremely lightweight and highly cushioned

This sole absorbs the impact of walking and is very comfortable to wear.

 

The words ‘OIL RESISTING’ appear on the heel.

You do see this type of sole elsewhere, don’t you?

This means that it has been treated to be oil-resistant,

It’s also non-slip in workplaces such as factories.

That’s what I’m told.

The soles of Red Wing engineer boots, and

It’s a typeface that can also be seen on items such as Beckmann’s top pieces, isn’t it?

 

They get on absolutely brilliantly with Irish Setters.

It goes well with the beige upper, too.

Compared to the original traction tread sole,

The result has a slightly fuller look.
