Alden wing-tip shoes.
It’s a classic burgundy colour.

The last used is the well-balanced ‘Tramonttrust’ last.
It is said to be a very rare wooden mould that is not used very often.

The customer brought these in for maintenance, as they’d been worn for quite some time.


There are signs of wear on the front part of the leather sole,

There are areas where the topstitching has worn away.


Although vintage steel has been fitted to the toe,
The tip is badly worn down, and
It’s almost to the point where the leather soles are starting to wear down.


The top piece has also worn down to near the level of the stacked layers, and
When to replace it.
This time, by carrying out maintenance on the soles,
It looked as though you might be able to wear them again, but…

A tear was observed in the counter lining.

As the core material is now exposed,

Caring for uppers showing signs of dryness or damage

We have replaced the shoelaces, which were on the verge of snapping.
Here is the finished result.


Firstly, the front section, which was worn down,
We have fitted a half rubber sole to reinforce the shoe.
The worn-out outer stitching was
After re-stitching it,
We have fitted a half rubber sole.

I have refitted the vintage steel to the toe section.

Even when combined with a half-rubber sole,
It can be finished to a flat surface with no unevenness.

Furthermore, by combining a half-rubber sole with vintage steel,
When you bump or catch your toe on something,
As well as preventing the half-rubber sole from peeling away from the toe,
In principle, you can wear them for many years without needing to have the soles replaced.

Even with all this reinforcement of the sole,
You can wear them without spoiling the look of the sides.

The top piece uses the same dovetail joint as the original.
We have finished it in such a way as to replicate the technique used for hammering decorative nails.


The counter lining, which showed signs of tearing, was
We selected leather with a colour and texture similar to that of the lining, and
We have reinforced the torn area.
At this point, use the top-line stitching to secure it.
By thinning the reinforced leather in the necessary areas,
We have taken steps to ensure that the reinforced leather does not come away when putting the item on or taking it off.


Uppers showing signs of dryness or damage can be restored through careful maintenance,
It’s turned out beautifully.

If your shoelaces look as though they’re about to snap, choose a similar colour or
We have sourced a new item of the correct length and replaced it for you.
