Today, we’d like to introduce a rather unusual jacket from 【CORDINGS】.

[CORDINGS] TEBA JACKET

CORDINGS was founded in London in 1839.
This long-established shop continues to embody the essence of British country style to this day, with items such as tweed jackets, corduroy and moleskin trousers.
The ‘TEBA JACKET’ we’re introducing today is a garment that’s slightly different from your typical tailored jacket.

It is said that its origins lie in a shooting jacket tailored on Savile Row for King Alfonso XIII of Spain.
It is said that the jacket was subsequently presented by the King to the Earl of Teba, with whom he was on close terms, and came to be known as the ‘Teba Jacket’ because the Earl wore it frequently.

The first thing that catches the eye is this distinctive collar style.
It has a unique design that is part tailored jacket, part cardigan.

The lapels are designed without notches, so they fall naturally even when the collar is turned up.
As this jacket was originally designed for wear in the field, its appeal lies in the fact that, whilst it has a smart appearance, it can be thrown on without any fuss.

There are three patch pockets on the front.

The cuffs feature a single-button design.

It is a single-layer garment with no lining, and the inner seams are finished with burgundy piping.
This use of colour in areas not visible in tables like this is also typical of Codings.

The fabric is a thick-knit material comprising 97 per cent wool and 3 per cent polyamide.
Although the fabric has a tight weave, it is stretchy and feels softer to wear than a typical woven jacket.
Although it is a lightweight design without a lining, the fabric is substantial in thickness, providing ample warmth for wearing as an outer layer in autumn and winter.
CORDINGS itself describes the Teba Jacket as a garment that combines the refined elegance of a jacket with a relaxed fit.

Not only can you pair it with a shirt for a slightly smarter look, but
It would look good paired with chunky-knit jumpers or turtlenecks.

On days when the wind feels chilly, why not try wearing it with the collar turned up, or

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to wear it with all the front buttons fastened?

Not as casual as a cardigan, nor as formal as a tailored jacket.
It’s the sort of thing you can throw on for those in-between seasons, and it would be a handy addition to your wardrobe.
A classic yet practical garment, true to the style of CORDINGS, a brand with a long history of crafting British country wear.
I’d particularly recommend this to anyone who enjoys these slightly niche British titles.
